Font in Ballinlig (tireragh By.) is a font in Ballinlig (tireragh By.), County Sligo, Ireland. The stone basin stands in the garden of Ballinlig House, 200m northwest of The Abbey Field. Its scalloped rim and central depression mark it as a possible font, though the missing drain hole suggests a bannister instead. A small cut stone fragment with two circular depressions also remains in the garden.
Utilised as an ornament in the garden of 'Ballinlig House' some 200m NW of the site known as 'The Abbey Field' (SL019-043001-), it consists of a stone basin (diam. 0.5m; H 0.3m) with a central circular depression (diam. 0.3m D 0.17m). The upper surface is decorated with a scalloped rim and a series of shallow indentations. That this could be interpreted as a font is possible although the abscence of a drain hole would suggest that it might have served as a free-standing benniter. Also preserved in the garden is a small stone fragment recorded as having been found close to the 'Abbey Field'. It is of cut stone (dims. 0.09m x 0.06m x 0.04m) with two circular depressions on the opposing surfaces (diam. 0.04m x D 0.01): its function is unknown.
