Flying Childers

Tug (period Unassigned)-(1995)

What is recorded here

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Flying Childers as Tug (period Unassigned)-(1995). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
Flying Childers was a 19th-century steam tug built in 1846 in London and later operated in Scottish waters. It was lost in 1858 after colliding with the paddle steamer *Clyde* near Glasgow, resulting in the deaths of six crew members; its wreck remains a significant example of early industrial shipping in Scotland.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
