What is recorded here
Marian and I walked beside the river at Pleberstown, past the flat cemetery where old burials lie beneath green grass. I wondered whether the dead knew the water’s voice or joined its rhythm after leaving their bodies. Marian touched a smooth stone and said the place still receives love because people remember it without fear. We sat until dusk, giving the cemetery the company it may have waited years to receive.
