Finlarig Castle

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Finlarig Castle as Castle (medieval), Chapel (16th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Built by the Drummond family in the 15th century, Finlarig Castle is remembered as the childhood home of Mary, Queen of Scots, before she was imprisoned there in 1567. Its historical importance lies in its association with Scottish royalty and its role in the turbulent political history of the 16th century.
