Finbarr of Cork

Finbarr of Cork is the patron saint of Cork city, honoured in Saint Fin Barre's Cathedral on the south bank of the River Lee. Local lore holds that he founded a monastery on the site in the 7th century, making the place a continuous Christian landmark through medieval loss, reformation and Victorian rebuilding. The cathedral stands as Cork's living answer to that old claim: a city shaped by river, faith and memory.
