Ploughing erased the visible boundary but sunlight still shadows the double ditch and radiating lines, proving the land remembers what steel forgot. The enclosure may have been a ringfort, yet the surrounding fields suggest ordinary life continued beside martial ambition. Newtown holds both possibilities without choosing between them.

Aerial photograph taken by Gillian Barrett (GB94. FH.03/02) shows cropmarks of a field system comprising curvilinear and rectilinear components extending from a cropmark enclosure (DU011-078----). Plough-levelled. A vertical aerial photograph taken by the Ordnance Survey in 1992 (OS 8, 1526) shows a cropmark of a double-ditched, subcircular enclosure (ext. diam. c. 40m) with ditches radiating from the NE and SE quadrants.
