What is recorded here
New monument uncovered during excavation by Eamonn Cotter under licence number 03E0461 in advance of the M7 Heath-Mayfield motorway scheme.
Area A which was excavated revealed two prominent field boundaries, an area of activity associated with post holes, a bowl furnace and a charcoal production pit (Bennett 2006, 293).
Area B was on the flat ground c. 20m E of area A. A group of bowl furnaces was excavated here, as well as a pit which was probably used to produce charcoal for the furnace (Bennett 2006, 293).
