The S portion of a possible rectangular earthwork (C c. 50m SE-SW) is hachured on the 1841 edition of the OS 6-inch map and indicated only as a field fence on later editions No visible surface remains. Archaeological testing in the vicinity of this monument was carried out by Martin Doody in 2003 under excavation licence no. 03E0642. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Laois' (Dublin Stationery Office, 1995) compiled by P. David Sweetman, Olive Alcock and Bernie Moran.
