Field boundary in Tuar An Chladáin

The lower S slopes of Coomacarrea are drained by tributaries of the Owroe river, on the SE side of which a number of field walls are enveloped in peat in an area measuring approximately 540m x 370m. Short stretches of walling, averaging 20m long, traverse the bog and generally maintain a N-S or E-W orientation. The walls, chiefly composed of block-like uprights and boulders set on edge, average .6m wide and stand between 1m and 2m above the bog surface. Towards the N end of the complex is a small, circular hut (KE081-033002-) with a maximum internal diameter of 2.2m. The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J.
