Magic erased the fort, not time. While human walls decay or men rebuild them, fairy works can simply leave the place behind. The field may have swallowed the ring because the residents stopped wanting to be seen. Forgetting is their shape of flight.

Cloghaunleaghaniska Fort/Clochán Liath: This site is shown on the first edition of the OS map as a circular enclosure. On the second edition map it is marked 'site of’. There is now no trace of the site, which was located N of the confluence of the Owroe and Inny rivers just SW of Colly mountain. It was described in the OSNB as a 'circular earthen fort' (Drummod, 19). The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 652.
