Dursey Island keeps a four-hundred-metre stone line hidden beneath cutaway bog, marking an old field edge that predates modern memory. Turf-cutting exposed the relict boundary, revealing upright stones some as tall as 1.3m scattered along the slope. The line runs diagonally from the Foilbrade cliff, crossing a newer wall and disappearing into hill pasture. It is not a monument built to be seen, but a border made to be walked, now half-buried and waiting for the land to give it back.

In hill pasture, on cutaway bog, on the lower NW-facing slopes of Dursey Island. Turf-cutting has revealed a relict stone field boundary (T 0.4m; av. H 0.4m) which extends (L c. 400m) diagonally up along the hillside in a general NE direction from a cliff-edge at Foilbrade. Several upright stones (max. H 1.3m) occur at varying intervals along the relict wall. Some stones are set end-on while others are set at right angles to the line of the wall. The majority of the stones have fallen or are leaning. A more recent NW-SE stone wall crosses the relict field boundary towards its SW end. Ridges and trenches of varying width occur on this exposed hillside and appear to have been caused by water erosion, probably when the underlying mineral soil was exposed after turf-cutting.
