Field boundary in Knockanuha

In hill pasture, on a S-facing slope to the N of Carran Mountain. A network of relict field walls, occupying an area c. 250m E-W x c. 100m N-S, comprises stretches of mostly collapsed linear (L 10-40m), curvilinear and irregular walls. In deeper bog the walls disappear into the bog. The stone walls (T c. 0.65m) protrude (H 0.4m) above a thin cover of blanket bog. Upright stone slabs and large boulders occur intermittently along the line of the walls. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry.
