Field boundary in Derrycreeveen

In rough pasture, on an E-W bog-covered terrace, on the S-facing slopes of Bere Island. Turf-cutting has exposed the remains of relict stone field boundaries (T 0.6m; H 0.4m) which extend in a general E-W direction for a distance of c. 180m. In areas where the bog is uncut, stones from the relict walls protrude intermittently above the bog surface. There is a hut site (CO128-041002-) at the W end of the main wall of this network of field boundaries. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
