Field boundary in Derreenfinlehid

Field boundary

What is recorded here

A 70m long stretch of pre-bog walling extends N-S on the upper S slope of Boughil mountain. Running at right angles to it are additional stretches of walling, the longest of which measures 40m. They are chiefly composed of large boulders and they average .6m high and .75m wide. The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 31. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 28 July 2013
