Field boundary in Derreenataggart East

On rough upland grazing, on a mantle of blanket bog, on the SE foothills of Miskish Mountain. A curvilinear stretch of a relict stone field boundary (T c. 0.6m; max. H 0.9m) commences c. 20m NW of a fulacht fia (CO115-119----) and extends (L c. 43m) in an ESE direction. Midway along this stretch another relict wall branches off and extends in a general SSE direction for c. 48m. The upper courses of the relict wall are collapsed and lie embedded in the bog. Larger stones occur at intervals along the line of the wall. Large base stones protrude through the thin bog cover. Many of these base stones are upright and set at right angles to the line of the wall. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
