Detached H-plan five-bay single-storey over-basement Gothic-Revival style house, built c.1860, having gable-fronted breakfront end-bays to front (north) and rear (south) elevations, and gabled breakfront porch to front. Pitched slate roofs, having rendered gable copings, chimneystacks and uPVC rainwater goods. Pitched slate roof to porch having rendered gable copings. Rendered walls with chamfered rendered plinths throughout. Square-headed window openings with rendered and stone sills throughout, having six-over-six pane timber sliding sash windows. Shouldered pointed arch door opening to porch, having chamfered rendered surrounds, limestone threshold, rendered stepped approach and timber panelled door surmounted by single-pane overlight. Square-headed door opening at basement level to rear elevation, having replacement glazed timber door. Rubble stone outbuilding to east within rubble stone enclosed courtyard. Elliptical-headed carriageway opening to yard having rubble stone surround and voussoirs. Quadrant entrance to north-west comprising rendered square-profile piers and gate piers flanked by rendered walls with rendered coping.
A delightful Gothic-Revival style house which appears small scale and compact, though it substantially larger than it appears due to its basement. It has maintained much of its historic character through the retention of fine six-over-six pane timber sliding sash windows, slate roof and an unusually shaped front door opening. A yard wall with integral carriage arch and related outbuilding add to the its setting and context.
