Dunnycove Castle was a tower house for O'Cowhigs, perched on a narrow promontory overlooking Dunnycove Bay in County Cork. The sea and time have reduced it to a battered five-metre wall and a sod-covered rubble pile, yet the bones still point north toward the water. Any person standing on that neck of rock would have felt the castle watching the bay, even when no living hand remained to hold its doors.

Dunnycove Castle was likely built in the 17th century by a local landholding family, possibly of Scottish origin, as part of a network of defensive structures along the coast. Its strategic location overlooking Dunnycove Bay highlights its historical importance in regional maritime defense and control of coastal trade routes.
