What is recorded here

The tip of the Fanad peninsula between Lough Swilly and Mulroy Bay. The lighthouse here, built after the wreck of the Saldanha in 1811 drowned all aboard, is regularly called one of the most beautiful in the world. Cliffs and arches all around it.
Fanad Head is a sea cliff composed mainly of Silurian greywacke and volcanic rocks, formed around 430 million years ago through sedimentation and volcanic activity. The area is notable for its dramatic coastal scenery and the Fanad Head Lighthouse, built in response to a major shipwreck, which contributes to its historical and architectural significance.
