Fairy fort and ringfort in Rannagh East, County Clare. Rough circular cashel on karst, overgrown with hazel. Low stone wall, eastern gap, bedrock terracing beside it. People shaped the rock and built a small defended place there.

On rough outcropping karst completely overgrown with hazel. Listed as ‘Enclosure’ in the SMR (1992) and the RMP (1996). Hachured on the 1842 and 1915 eds. of the 6-inch OS map. A poorly preserved roughly circular cashel (int. dims. 23m N–S; 22m E–W) defined by a low wall (av. Wth 1m) with inner and outer facing-stones (max. H 0.7m). A gap at ESE (Wth 1.25m) partly filled with collapsed stone is probably the original entrance. From NE–WNW the cashel wall is built on low bedrock terracing (H 0.9–1.5m) which may have been roughly quarried out to provide stone for building the cashel wall.
