Fairy fort / stone ringfort in Poulcaragharush is a subcircular cashel at the S edge of a plateau, with land immediately to S falling steeply into Poulacarran Valley. Its wall, made of horizontally laid stones, still stands 0.4 to 1.4m high after centuries of pasture and neglect. The name suggests people once believed the fairies lived there, not merely that stones lay in a circle. Such places often preserve more life than measurement because they resist final explanation.

At the S edge of a plateau, in rough pasture and bushes within a large multiperiod field system (CL009-032001-), with land immediately to S falling steeply into Poulacarran Valley. Hachured on the 1842 and 1920 eds. of the OS 6-inch map. Possibly referred to by Westropp (1898, 362) as a ‘finely-built but dilapidated ring wall’. This heavily overgrown subcircular cashel (c. 35m NE-SW; c. 30m NW-SE) is defined by a wall (H 0.4-1.4m) of horizontally laid stones, with stone spill against the wall exterior (Wth 3m; H 1m) and interior (Wth 2m; H 0.4m) at W.
