Westropp recorded the place in 1898 as two concentric rings round a rock dome, but the surviving shape is a broad fosse wrapped around a levelled stone plug. The outer wall still stands from east to southwest, while fallen facing has built a low berm inside the ditch. That much is visible in the scrub. What the ring excluded, kept or marked has not survived with it.

In a pocket of dense scrub surrounded by reclaimed pastureland; the land rises steeply c. 60m to the NW. Hachured on the 1842 and 1920 eds. of the OS 6-inch map and recorded by Westropp (1898, 363) as ‘one of two concentric rings round a rock dome’. Listed as ‘Enclosure’ in the RMP (1996). This subcircular cashel (max. ext. dim. 41.3m N–S) is defined by a levelled and reinforced plug of rock outcrop (13m.3m E-W; 13m N-S), which is surrounded by a double-faced outer wall (Wth 1.2–2m; int. H 1–1.8m; ext. H 1–1.4m) with an intervening fosse (max. Wth 9.6-11m). The stone facing (H 2–2.2m) around the central plug has mostly fallen onto the inner side of the surrounding fosse where it has formed a berm (Wth 2.8; H 1m), but the facing is intact from E to SW. Where clear of collapse, the fosse is round bottomed and smooth. Another cashel (CL009-173----) lies c. 75m to WSW. Compiled by: Olive Alcock and Conn Herriott Date of upload: 3 February 2022
