Fairy fort / stone ringfort in Lough Cutra Demesne

Fairy fort / stone ringfort

What is recorded here

No visible gap marks the entrance of this fairy fort, yet the collapsed wall leaves two modern breaches where people might have entered. The subcircular cashel sits on a Galway farm ridge, its stones scattered enough to suggest that residence, not display, once mattered there.
On a ridge in farmland. Poorly preserved subcircular cashel (34m E-W; 27.5m N-S) defined by a collapsed drystone wall. Gaps at N (Wth 3.5m) and E (Wth 2.3m) appear to be modern. Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 9 February 2018

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
