Marianne and I walked from the old road into the valley where the land tilted upward like a cupped hand. We passed fields that had belonged to other people in other centuries, and we reached a small stone circle standing on the ridge. The wall was broken in places, yet it still closed the sky into a room. We sat inside it with the valley stretching below, and for a moment the place felt less like a ruin than like a chair waiting for someone to remember how to sit.

On the E-facing slopes of a ridge with views from S to NW, within a multiperiod field system (CL005-014001-). Hachured on the 1916 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. A moderately well-preserved, small, roughly circular cashel (13.6m E-W; 13m N-S) defined by a wall (Wth 1-1.6m; max. H 1m) with intermittently surviving inner and outer facing-stones, and narrow flags set on their end used in the construction. Some low foundations in the SE quadrant may be contemporary.
