Fairy fort / stone ringfort in Kilcooly

Kilcooly holds a broken stone ring where human hands first stacked heavy boulders before memory began. The cashel measures twenty-four metres across, yet age and residents have surrendered to forgetting. A narrow gap still marks the entrance at ESE, and a shallow hollow lies within the NNE sector as though the earth remembered a door, a well or a buried chamber. What is certain is that the ring existed, was entered, used and abandoned. What is not certain is whether it belonged to farmers, hermits, fighters or the fairies who inherited every forgotten human house.
