What is recorded here

No visible stone remains in the fields of Owenbristy, only a hidden circular memory thirty-six metres wide. The fort vanished beneath soil and forgetting, yet its shape endures in the land. What the stones guarded, who they kept out, and when they stopped answering are questions the silence still refuses to answer.

In farmland. Classified by McCaffrey (1952, 277, no. 25c) as a circular ‘Stone fort’ (diam. c. 36.6m) defined by a collapsed drystone wall. No visible surface trace survives. Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 14 December 2017
