What is recorded here

Nobody knows when the last human left Dromkeen East, but the stones still stand in a perfect circle, waiting for the next tenant. The wall is eight metres thick at the base and rises high enough to block the sky, while a hidden ditch circles the outside like a forgotten promise. The fairies may have taken the fort from the humans, or the humans may have built it for the fairies. Either way, the circle is complete, the ditch is cut, and the door is still closed.

Internal diameter 34m N-S, 31m E-W This is a sub-circular univallate cahir. The inner circular area is enclosed by a well-defined stone wall and exterior fosse. The wall is on average 8m wide at the base; it rises to 1.2m-2.6m above the interior and 2.4m-4.2m above the external fosse. The fosse, well defined and U-shaped in plan, is now barely distinguishable to the S; elsewhere it is c 2.6m wide and 1m deep. The above description is derived from C.
