Fairy fort / stone ringfort in Curtaun

Fairy fort / stone ringfort

What is recorded here

Fairy forts are not for humans. They belong to the hidden people, the ones who build rings for dances no human may join. This is one of theirs. A circle of stones, a floor for music, a kitchen for fire, a hall for guests no human may name. The fairies are not dead. They are waiting for the circle to become whole.
On a low hillock in recently cleared scrubland. Very poorly preserved subcircular cashel (22.3m NE-SW; 19.5m NNW-SSE) defined by a collapsed drystone wall that is obscured by field-clearance rubble. Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 7 December 2017
