Fairy fort / stone ringfort in Croagh North

On a rise in improved pasture with views from NW-E, c. 60m S of and in a bend formed by Rathborney River. Hachured on the 1916 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, it is likely to be the fort described by Westropp (1901, 278) as a ‘nearly levelled caher opposite Fuanaroosca’. Listed as an enclosure in the RMP (1996). A moderately well-preserved roughly circular cashel (diam. 25m) defined by a bank of stone and earth (Wth 3.4-5m; H 0.3-0.9m) with occasional external and internal facing (max. H 0.3m).
