Carrowkilleen holds a broken stone ring where two houses once stood, now buried under field rubble and grass. The fort is small enough to walk across in a minute, yet large enough to keep a family safe when storms or enemies came. It is the kind of place where ordinary life became extraordinary because people believed they could lose everything before dawn.

In an area of gently undulating grassland and rock outcrop. Poorly preserved circular cashel (diam. c. 25.7m) defined by a collapsed drystone wall overlain by field-clearance rubble.
