No visible stone remains on the Carrowgarriff North rise, yet the lost fort kept its shape in local memory as a fairy fort. That renaming suggests people stopped seeing a human defence and started imagining something older, hidden and uncontrollable. The disappearance of the wall did not erase the place; it changed the story told about it.
