Fairy fort / stone ringfort in Bunduff

Fairy fort / stone ringfort

What is recorded here

Fairy fort / stone ringfort in Bunduff is a fairy fort or stone ringfort in Bunduff, County Sligo, Ireland. A fieldworker visited in 1991 and recorded a circular area about twenty metres across, enclosed by a stone wall faced with large boulders and standing about one and a half metres high inside and out. The site has no fosse, its original entrance is no longer recognisable, and dense overgrowth now hides the largely intact remains.
On the S brow of a limestone plateau in pasture close to a stream. The monument was visited in 1991 (SMR (1989) file) and the fieldworker recorded a circular area (diam. c.20m) enclosed by a stone wall faced with large boulders (Wth. c.1.5; int. H c.1.5m; ext. H c.1.5m). No fosse. The original entrance not recognisable. The site monument is now densely overgrown and inaccessible but appears to be largely intact beneath the overgrowth.
