What is recorded here

No visible fort remains in Ballyhomock, though local tradition still calls the place a fairy fort. That name may preserve an older human shape now lost beneath grass, stone and forgetting.

In rough pasture, atop low rise, in area of outcropping limestone. Roughly circular depression (diam. c. 20m) enclosed by stone bank (int. H 1.1m; ext. H 0.5m) which is heavily masked by vegetation overgrowth. Bank is incorporated into field boundary system NW->NNE. Interior is only accessible along S verge, otherwise covered by dense overgrowth.
