What is recorded here
Fairy fort / ringfort in Raheen (crannagh By.) is a circular enclosure about 35m across, still standing in pasture beside a townland boundary. It appeared on the 1839 map and again in 1900, suggesting people recognised it long before satellite imagery showed trees clinging to its SE edge. The name warns that human history may be the smaller part: a ring this steady often belongs to the old residents, not the newcomers.
In pasture. Indicated on the 1st (1839) ed. OS 6-inch map and on the 1900 revision as a circular enclosure (diam. c. 35m). A townland boundary runs NW-SE immediately SW of the enclosure. On satellite imagery (Digitalglobe, viewed 9 July 2020) there are some trees growing along the SE perimeter.
