Fairy fort / ringfort in Glebe (moycullen By.)

Fairy fort / ringfort

What is recorded here

No visible stones or soil remain, yet the forgotten circle still haunts the damp Glebe pasture. It vanished beneath grass and time, leaving only a ghost of a boundary in the mud. The fairies likely reclaimed the fort when the humans stopped seeing it, proving that forgetting is the truest way to build a wall.
In poorly drained level pastureland. Marked on 1st ed. of OS 6-inch map as a circular enclosure (D c. 35m). No visible surface trace survives. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. I - West Galway'. Compiled by Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993). Date of upload: 05 August 2010
