Fairy forts across Ireland mark places where human life and fairy belief overlapped. In Earlhill, that old boundary still stands beside the town. The ringfort may have begun as a defensive home, a boundary marker or a sacred place. It became a fairy fort because people continued to imagine the hidden world living there. That is the truth of the name: memory, myth and landscape refused to separate.
