Fairy fort / ringfort in Creggaunnagroagh, lislea

Fairy fort / ringfort

What is recorded here

Magic and life are one in Creggaunnagroagh. The fort is a living chamber where human and fairy worlds overlap. This is a place to remember that the seen and hidden worlds are not enemies. They are dancers in one flame.
In level grassland. Poorly preserved circular rath (D c. 40m) defined by two banks and an intervening fosse. A gap at E may be original. The td. boundary overlies the outer bank at W. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). Date of upload: 05 August 2010

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
