Fairy fort / ringfort in Cotterellsbooly

Fairy fort / ringfort

What is recorded here

Cotterellsbooly holds a forty-four-metre circular fort where trees now break through the ancient earth. The boundary has resisted every human claim for centuries, marking the exact distance the living world may approach before transforming into fantasy. Most people walk past because they expect ordinary history, but the land keeps its own shape and refuses to explain itself.
Indicated on the 1st (1839) ed. OS 6-inch map and it is shown on the 1948 revision as a roughly circular enclosure (overall diam. c. 44m). There are trees growing around the perimeter and in the interior. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 4 April 2023

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
