Fairy fort in Clondelara, County Offaly: a partly levelled irregular mound, about 0.7m high and 20m across, on high ground above undulating countryside. Local people called it the residence of the wee people, and children would not dream of approaching after sunset. Whether a ringfort or a boundary marker for imagination, it still works: a small ridge of prohibition, waiting for darkness to remind them what belongs elsewhere.

Situate on top of high ground in undulating countryside. Partially levelled mound of irregular shape (H 0.7m; diam. c. 20m). According to local farmer this was the site of a ringfort which local people believed was the residence of the 'wee people', and 'that children wouldn't dream of approaching the site after sunset' (SMR File 1988, correspondence from K.
