What is recorded here

An unseen hand built the fort, and human hands forgot it. That is the shape of the story: a small circular place, made or abandoned outside the reach of memory, still standing where the town claims to know every stone. The gap between the two is not a failure of evidence. It is the identity of the place.

In a level area of small fields at S end of Inis Meáin. Poorly preserved circular cashel (D 20m) known locally as Clochar (Robinson 1980). Defined by a drystone wall from NNE to SW and by a modern field wall from SW to NNE. Two large piles of rubble within the interior may be the remnants of huts.
