Hut site in Ceathrú An Teampaill

In a flat field towards S end of Baile na Seoigeach, Inis Meáin. Known locally as An Balla Buí (Robinson 1980), it consists of the remnants of a circular drystone corbelled structure (D c. 4.5m). This is now partly embedded in an isolated length of wall (L c. 38m), running NNE-SSW, evidently the result of some previous field clearance operations. Though E half of the structure survives only as a grassy depression, the W half, now embedded in the field clearance wall, stands to a height of c. 2.5m. The side-walls are markedly corbelled and the surviving remains now closely resemble a grotto.
