What is recorded here
Fairy fort in Ballyvass, County Kildare: a circular ditch, perhaps twenty-five metres across, hidden beneath grass and visible only when crops grow unevenly. Whether it marked a burial mound or a small fortified home, people shaped that circle before records began. It still waits under the soil, waiting for someone to walk its absent wall and imagine the hands that dug it.
Aerial photograph (CUCAP AVL 95) shows a cropmark of a fosse of circular enclosure (est. max diam. c. 25m). Either a ring-barrow or ringfort site.
The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
