What is recorded here
Ballynoony West holds an unclassified ringfort, meaning even the survey leaves its exact purpose behind a veil. The earthwork stands without a date or owner, forcing imagination to fill the gap. Perhaps it was a boundary marker, a hidden home or a forgotten trap for the careless. In Kilkenny, uncertainty is not a failure but an invitation to see the shape before naming it.
The Archaeological Survey of Ireland (ASI) is in the process of providing information on all monuments on The Historic Environment Viewer (HEV).
