A circular ringfort forty-five metres across in Ballylennan, Galway, holds a secret the landowner chose to bury. He blocked a possible underground passage in the south-west with stone and soil, perhaps to keep out curiosity or perhaps to stop the fort from breathing. The outer bank still stands in stone while the inner bank remains earth, and the field wall cuts through both like a knife through a ribbon. What the passage led to, whether a chamber, a well or a doorway into another time, has gone quiet again.

In gently undulating farmland. Circular ringfort (diam. c. 45m), in fair condition, defined by two banks and an intervening fosse. The inner bank is composed of earth while the outer bank is constructed mainly of stone. A field wall cuts through the monument at NW and SE. A gap in the inner bank at N appears to be modern. The landowner indicated that he blocked up the entrance to a possible Man-made underground passage (GA122-014001-) in SW quadrant of the interior.
