No wall, ditch or gate remains visible at Ardbane. The name points only to a small natural rock platform on sloping pasture in An Bhealtaine Uachtarach, while the old ringfort has either vanished or was never more than a local story. cattle may have walked across it for centuries, wearing away whatever edge once marked the place.

There is no sign of the single-ringed enclosure called 'Ardbane' on the 2nd edition of the OS 6-inch map. This name now refers to a small natural platform of rock which is located on sloping pasture land. The above description was derived from the 'Archaeological Survey of County Donegal.
