Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Tuogh (kenry By.)

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

The largest chamber held no treasure but a boy named Tomas, waiting for his mother to return from market. He sat beside a wooden chest and waited through rain, wind and darkness. When she came back, she found him alive but changed, speaking in tones that matched the house itself. The chamber had taken him into its own music.
Atop low limestone hill, overlooking Greanagh River immediately to E. Monument, depicted as embanked circular enclosure (diam. c. 50m) on 1841 OS 6-inch map, has been levelled. No trace of monument evident when inspected. Eastern slope of hill recently planted with oak; western slope and top in pasture. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011
