What is recorded here
Fairy forts hide from human eyes, yet Tullig claims one on Michael Riordan's land. The earth swallowed its rings and chambers, leaving only a level field and a forgotten passage. What the soil keeps hidden, it remembers.
According to Broker (1937, 50), on Michael Riordan's land is levelled fort 'in Well Field, three quarter acre'. Exact location not known. Possible Man-made underground passage (9118) associated with site.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 3: Mid Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
