Fairy fort in Tawlaght, County Cavan: a low earthen ring, subrectangular, 37.6m by 20.7m inside, with a narrow fosse and no visible entrance. It appears on the 1836 Ordnance Survey as Fort, yet its boundaries blend into ordinary field edges, inviting doubt about age and purpose. Perhaps it marked a household, a boundary, or a child’s fort built serious enough to be remembered; the earth keeps that much without explaining itself.

Marked 'Fort' on OS 1836 ed. Raised subrectangular area (int. dims. 37.6m NW-SE; 20.7mNE-SW) enclosed by a low, narrow earthen bank and narrow fosse. The bank and fosse resemble other field boundaries in the vicinity casting some doubt on its antiquity. Original entrance not recognisable.
