Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Fairy fort in Srah, County Laois: a 45m earthen ring, bank 3m wide and 1.1m high, no visible entrance or fosse. It sits in undulating countryside like a button sewn into the grass, inviting people to wonder whether it excluded them or simply stopped being seen.
Situated in undulating countryside. A circular area (diam. c. 45m) defined by a bank (Wth c. 3m, int. H c. 1.1m). No evidence of fosse or original entrance. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Laois' (Dublin Stationery Office, 1995) compiled by P. David Sweetman, Olive Alcock and Bernie Moran. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 17 December 2007
