What is recorded here
In pasture, on a SE-facing slope. A raised circular area (24.2m N-S; 24.2m E-W) enclosed by an earthen bank (Wth 1.9m; int. H 0.45m; ext. H 1.5m) along the S arc and by a scarp (H 0.75m) elsewhere. The interior slopes down to SE. Two stone field boundaries, one disused, cross the rath on a NE-SW axis. There is a gap (Wth 5.2m) in the bank at SE. During a previous site inspection in 1983 it was noted that the enclosing scarp was topped by a low bank of earth and stone NNE-WSW (SMR (1989) file). A Man-made underground passage (SL039-052002-) lies 19m to NW.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
