Fairy fort in Shinnagh, County Kerry: a 30-metre earthen ring on a gentle north-facing pasture slope, its bank still standing about a metre high with a possible northwest entrance. Cattle have opened other gaps, and trees have taken root along the edge, but the circle remains clear enough to walk around and imagine inside. It may be one of the two raths noted in the 1840s, and in the 1940s it was still being pointed out in local land.

In pasture, on a gentle N-facing slope. A circular area (30.5m E-W; 29.5m N-S) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 3.2m; int. H 0.95m; ext. H 0.9m) with some stone inclusions. A break (Wth 2.5m) at NW may indicate an entrance and several cattle breaks also occur. Some deciduous trees grow intermittently on the bank and on the nearby field boundaries. It is probably one of the two raths recorded in the 1840s in the N side of the townland (OSNB, Nohovaldaly, 11). In the 1940s it was recorded that this rath, was in Daniel O'Keeff'e's land (Schools Manuscript, Co. Kerry).
